Flickerdown Data Systems :: http://www.flickerdown.com
Flickerdown Data Systems :: http://www.flickerdown.com: "About three months ago Flickerdown went through frequent interruptions of service. Eventually, this prompted a change to a different hosting company.
We also decided at this time to build our own web server. This led to further issues, such as deciding where to locate the server, how to pay for the DNS services and bandwidth, and determing the other applications we wanted to provide for our users. We are going to visit these issues in an upcoming series of articles about Flickerdowns new web server.
The issue we are covering in this review is building the server itself.
To do this, we needed a new case. Chenbro has long been a contributor of cases for us to review. We had previously reviewed Chenbro's 2U rack mounted case and had considered using it, but we already had a full complement of six drives already scrounged up, which is the limit for this 2U case. "

The Onion | Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Theory
The Onion | Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Theory: "
KANSAS CITY, Kansas. the debate over the teaching of evolution in public schools continues, a new controversy over the science curriculum arose Monday in this embattled Midwestern state. Scientists from the Evangelical Center For Faith-Based Reasoning are now asserting that the long-held 'theory of gravity' is flawed, and they have responded to it with a new theory of Intelligent Falling.
Above: Rev. Gabriel Burdett (left) explains Intelligent Falling.
'Things fall not because they are acted upon by some gravitational force, but because a higher intelligence, 'God' if you will, is pushing them down,' said Gabriel Burdett, who holds degrees in education, applied Scripture, and physics from Oral Roberts University.
Burdett added: 'Gravity which is taught to our children as a law is founded on great gaps in understanding. The laws predict the mutual force between all bodies of mass, but they cannot explain that force. Isaac Newton himself said, 'I suspect that my theories may all depend upon a force for which philosophers have searched all of nature in vain.' Of course, he is alluding to a higher power.'
Founded in 1987, the ECFR is the world's leading institution of evangelical physics, a branch of physics based on literal interpretation of the Bible.
According to the ECFR paper published simultaneously this week in the International Journal Of Science and the adolescent magazine God's Word For Teens!, there are many phenomena that cannot be explained by secular gravity alone, including such mysteries as how angels fly, how Jesus ascended into Heaven, and how Satan fell when cast out of Paradise.

Hardware Analysis - Building a High-Performance Web Server
Hardware Analysis - Building a High-Performance Web Server: "
Weve been evaluating our server for more than 100-days since we brought it online, running performance and stability tests and naturally tweaking the OS, Apache and our html, PhP and MySQL code. One thing became immediately apparent when making real world comparisons to out-of-the-box web server solutions from Dell, Compaq, Sun and others and thats the fact that were much faster and able to offer substantially higher output bandwidth than comparable offerings from these OEMs. This not only brings home our point that a web server needs to be tailored to fit the application, but also that home-built solutions can easily compete with readily bought solutions. All that it takes is a little time and effort and good grasp of what the web server is set out to do."
